Prior to his new role with Grant Thornton, Kempe spent 12 years at KPMG LLP in various senior technology leadership roles, including regional and international CIO. UT Health San Antonio names Michael Schnabel as CIO
UT Health San Antonio provides education, biomedical research, patient care and community service to San Antonio and the South Texas/Border Region. Schnabel joined UT Health San Antonio in 2013 and has served as the CISO and assistant VP of information security and operations for more than a decade. He’s served as interim VP and CIO since July 2024. Prior to joining UT Health San Antonio Schnabel served as information security officer for City of Hope National Medical Center. He holds a BS and an MBA from Western Governors University.

Most recently, Kangala served as senior director at Home Depot, where he launched a transformation management office and led the digital strategy to build the foundation for interconnected retail vision through advanced technology and data-driven insights. Before Home Depot, he held various leadership roles in business and technology transformation at Edward Jones, Carter’s Inc., Cato Corporation, and IBM. He has a doctorate in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and an MBA from East Carolina University.
Mike Shelton appointed CIO at The University of Alabama
Established in 1820 and opened to students in 1831, The University of Alabama (UA) is a public research university in Tuscaloosa. Shelton will move into his new role after serving as deputy CIO for the UA Office of IT since 2019. He has more than 25 years of experience in IT and started as a programmer at UA in 2006. In addition to his role with OIT, Shelton serves as an adjunct instructor teaching leadership and ethics in the Culverhouse College of Business. He earned a BS and an MA from The University of Alabama.

Murphy joins Newfold with more than 30 years of experience in IT and strategic leadership, most recently serving as the CIO of Desktop Metal. Before that, he served as the CIO and CISO of Progress Software. Murphy has a BA from Maynooth University in Ireland and an MBA from Bentley University.

Prior to joining Sequoia Living, Skaff was VP of healthcare technology at Vayyar Imaging. He held previous leadership roles at Dele Health Tech and the Jewish Senior Living Group. Campise joins Five Star from Delaware North Companies, where he served as senior director of enterprise architecture since 2021. Prior to that, he helped lead enterprise architecture during his seven year tenure at Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and spent nine years with the University at Buffalo. Damian Laviolette promoted to CIO at OnPoint Community Credit Union
OnPoint Community Credit Union, founded in 1932, is located in Oregon and serves over 576,000 members. Laviolette has worked at OnPoint since 2022. He previously served as VP and CISO, and before joining OnPoint, he served as SVP and CISO at Webster Bank and VP of Network Security Operations at Umpqua Bank.
